Jodie Collins, Founder/CEO
Jodie lived 13 years in Ethiopia, 1964-1977. Worked in Education for 20 years, Completed Masters in Anthropology from U.C Berkeley, 1993, Worked U.C. Berkeley, Supervisor of Office Services and Verification for 5 years. Registrar at Dominican College in San Rafael, CA, two years, worked for 17 years at Kaiser Permanente, a large HMO, as a property manager/facility manager for the Information Technology Group and for Regional Building Offices in Walnut Creek, Oakland, Pleasanton, CA. Jodie founded Humani, Inc. in 2002. Humani means Humanitarian. Humani is committed to care for Ethiopian communities, particularly for single women with HIV and their children.

Bonnie Coats, Secretary
BS Nursing, University of Florida, MSN, ARNP, University of Florida, MPH, Public Health, University of California, Berkeley. Bonnie was on the forefront of HIV beginning in 1991. She coordinated the sentinel NIH funded clinical trial for the prevention of perinatal transmission of HIV. With the principal investigators she provided prenatal care and was responsible for the collection and management of research date. She was responsible for training community physicians and practitioners in the medical treatment of HIV positive women at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. Bonnie worked for Alucha County Organization for Rural Needs (ACORN) in Gainesville, FL. She was responsible for recruitment of over 30 medical providers from the University of Florida and development of community programs for individuals without access to health care.

Kathleen Cain Carrither
Kathleen retired as Senior Vice President and CFO of Rady Children,s Hospital after an extensive career as a healthcare CFO for a variety of hospitals, both public and private. Her career within California includes experience as CFO at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Oakland; Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno; Eden Medical Center, Castro Valley; and Community Hospital Sonoma County, Santa Rosa. For six years, she was a Regional CFO responsible for three public hospitals in Hawaii.
She has served as a director of the Northern California and Hawaii Chapters of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is a Past President of the Northern California Chapter. She also served on the National Advisory Council and has been an active participant in HFMA’s Thought Leadership program. She completed the HFMA Executive Program. She currently serves on the San Diego Zoo Global Board and has served two years on the California Hospital Association Board. She also is the Treasurer for Humani Villages, Inc. providing assistance to impoverished women in Ethiopia. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from The Ohio State University and a B.A. from Indiana University. |
Advisory Board Members
Elizabeth Girma
Elsabeth is Professional Registered Civil Engineer with in depth public and private management and technical experience including impressive projects with major governmental jurisdictions as employee and engineering consultant. Her career has been task driven involving all functions and activities of public works with emphasis on design and construction of major structures including wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, conveyance systems and power plants.
After retiring from the East Bay Municipal Utility District after 26 years she is currently working as a project engineer/construction manager with Hazen and Sawyer Engineering a leading engineering and consulting firm in the United States. She currently serves on the Board of two non-profit organizations in Ethiopia (Generous Ethiopians and Library Information Foundation for Ethiopia). She is also on the Advisory Board for Humani Villages, Inc., and a Project Manager for Humani Villages. She holds a Civil Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree from Spelman College. |
Virginia Hollins Davidson
Virginia has been an advocate in courts throughout the county on behalf of economically disadvantaged individuals. The skills she brings to Humani include research, training, educating. She has trained and supervised a staff of attorneys, paralegals, outreach workers, and secretaries. She has experience in counseling, negotiating, and recruiting. Virginia was a Peace Corp Volunteer in Addis Ababe, Ethiopia, where she taught high school English as a Second Language.
