HUMANI’S MISSION
In Ethiopia mostly women and children are identified as living in extreme poverty. Poverty devastates the opportunities for good health, growth and prosperity of poor women with children. To further strengthen on-going efforts of the Ethiopian government and its local and global partners in addressing Ethiopia’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and to end extreme poverty in Ethiopia, Humani Inc., founded in the USA, comes to Ethiopia to work with the Ethiopian people and government and to contribute its part to help the most affected sects of the society, those in extreme poverty and suffering its consequences. Humani’s women-specific project is mainly focused in addressing specific problems resulting from gender from inequalities perpetuated in the past and potentially drives these vulnerable women toward poor health and HIV/AIDS.
To reduce and end extreme poverty, Humani’s project intervention mainly targets the most vulnerable women trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty. These are single poor women with children and out-of-school, jobless adolescent girls. Humani’s community based, integrated project intervenes with income generating activities and social well-being support areas to address the target women’s practical development and empowerment gaps. Using an innovative development solution for poverty reduction, Humani will invest in the target women’s human capital and enhance their working capability increasing their income earning potential with the objective of sustainable economic empowerment. In collaboration with local and international partners and key stakeholders, Humani will intervene during its first five years to introduce and transfer new development ideas, skills, and innovative technologies to the target beneficiaries and local communities. Humani will bring breakthrough development ideas to improve the target women’s livelihood and their social well-being which will result in the economic growth of the local community in the project locality.
